Accountant
Documents, 1C, tax — can you explain “why” when the director asks?
Income range: 4,000,000–18,000,000 UZS / mo
Takeaways
- An accountant records money legally. Deadlines and tax changes are the main stress; “about” does not work in this job.
- Flexa: median offer to an accountant ~6.8M UZS/month (Jan–Jul 2026), most common ~5M. Official finance ~19.1M is banks/insurance, not a line accountant.
- Entry: 1C + Excel + tax updates. IFRS/ACCA is a foreign-reporting door, not required for a local LLC.
What the books are — and are not
An accountant keeps documents, the bank, stock, payroll, and tax inside the law and the deadline. They are not an auditor (outside inspection), not a CFO (strategy), not a cashier (only paying out). In a small LLC everything sits on one desk; in a large one you own a slice (bank, payroll, VAT).
Daily language in Uzbekistan: 1C, e-invoices, my.soliq, bank-client. “We keep it in Excel” still happens — ads ask for 1C.
A fit if you are precise, can stand repetition, and are not late. A poor fit if you say “we’ll fix it later” and miss month-close.
Nearby roles — a different signature
| Role | What they do | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Accountant | Books, tax, payroll | Flexa median ~6.8M (2026) |
| Chief accountant | Signature, policy, team | Search sits higher — another role |
| Auditor | Inspects, writes an opinion | Independence; ACCA door nearer |
| Outsource / visiting | Several LLCs, 1C remote | Lumpy flow; liability in the contract |
| FP&A / CFO path | Budget, forecast, decisions | Excel/BI; after 1C |
A day around month-close
A normal day: inbound documents, a bank statement, 1C, invoices. The director asks “why” — explanation is the soft skill, not only the number.
Month-end / quarter / year: close, reports, tax, evenings. “I leave at 18:00” is hard in that window — agree it first. Tax-committee updates are monthly reading; AI may hand you last year’s code.
Tools — what ads actually ask
- 1C: books, payroll, trade — read the module in the ad
- Excel: VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivots, check columns
- Soliq.uz / my.soliq e-filing
- E-invoices and bank-client
- Later: BI or IFRS — by path, not month one
From zero to a 1C desk
01Foundation: debit/credit and a document
University, college, or a short course. Understand that every posting has a source document.
021C practice
A training base or a stint. A cert helps; “I clicked the button” is not enough.
03First slice
Bank or payroll. Live through one month-close.
04Widen
VAT, fixed assets, or outsource. Chief accountant is signature and people — later.
Who trusts the number and explains it
A fit: order, repetition, a written trail. Prior cashier or warehouse work helps. A poor fit: “I will be an economist who never looks at numbers” and refusing to read new rules. Eyes and back at close without breaks are a risk.
Month-close mistakes
- Reading 19.1M as your wage
- Posting in 1C without a source document
- Pasting the password into a group chat
- Trusting an AI return without a signature
- Applying to chief-accountant ads with no experience
Pay: median vs sector mean
Flexa (Jan–Jul 2026): accountant offer median ~6.8M UZS/month, most common ~5M. That is an ad sample. There is no official junior rate.
Official finance and insurance average ~19.1M (H1 2026) includes banks, insurers, and a right tail — do not apply it to a line accountant. “Chief accountant” search looks higher: a small sample and mixed ads. Tashkent ~12.01M sits above the national mean — context.
Factors: 1C module, VAT/export, English/IFRS, outsource vs staff. Personal income tax is 12% — ask take-home.
The Uzbekistan market
Every legal entity needs books — demand is stable, not an “IT-style boom.” Outsourcing shops, visiting accountants, retail chains, plants, IT Park residents (their own FX and tax).
Ads: hh.uz, Telegram, referrals. Language: statute in Uzbek/Russian, 1C UI in Russian, sometimes reports in English. Region: more staff seats in the capital; a “do everything” desk in the regions.
IFRS, ACCA, remote
IFRS/ACCA/CIMA open foreign reporting, an audit network, or an investment team. The local 1C+tax path is different — do not mix them and say “I get 19M too.” Remote outsource: NDA, signing rights, tax residency — with a lawyer. Relocation is that country’s register, not a how-to here.
AI writes a formula — it does not sign
AI speeds Excel, a draft explanation, “where does this account go.” It does not refresh the tax code, log into my.soliq, or own the error. Do not paste cards and passwords into a model.
Scarce: the close checklist, “this document is missing,” reading the new rule.
Demand and myths
Legal entities are not disappearing — nor are the books. Risks: deadlines, eyes, law changes, signature pressure. Myths: “19M is mine”; “AI will file”; “ACCA means I skip 1C.”
Questions at the accountant’s desk
Can I work without a 1C certificate?
Practice often matters more. A cert can open a door; it is not always required. Read the ad.
What does a junior earn?
No official rate. Flexa median ~6.8M, mode ~5M (2026). A first desk is usually lower. Open 5–10 ads.
What does a chief accountant earn?
Search shows higher figures — mixed roles, small samples. Do not auto-apply “2×.” Read the ad.
Do I need ACCA?
Useful on a foreign-reporting/audit path. For a local LLC on 1C — no.
Will AI file the return?
No. You sign and you are liable. AI is a draft.
Can I enter without an economics degree?
In a small firm a course plus 1C sometimes suffices. Banks/large tenders may ask for a degree.
Is outsourcing risky?
Flow is lumpy; liability is in the contract. Several LLCs — set a boundary and do not mix secrets.
What do I study in month one?
Source document → 1C posting → bank statement. Then the my.soliq UI. IFRS later.
Figures draw on 2026 sources: Uzbekistan National Statistics Committee (official sector averages, Q1/H1 2026), Flexa and hh.uz vacancy medians, and public IT Park / product-team guides. Not a guarantee — contract type, city, tax, and level change the range. Compare live vacancies yourself.
