Electrician
Wire, panel, safety — working without a tester because “I know” is a life risk.
Income range: 4,000,000–20,000,000 UZS / mo
Takeaways
- An electrician is safety and the network: install, diagnose, repair. A mistake is fire or shock; “I learned on YouTube” is not enough for a client.
- House wiring and an energy-market license are different papers. The 13 February 2025 energy licensing rules (No. 91) cover operator/market activity; this page is not a permit.
- There is no official electrician salary series. Construction ~7.02M (H1 2026) is context; call-outs, nights, and industry can add a premium — not a promise.
What an electrician does — and does not
An electrician works on cable, panels, lighting, sockets, sometimes motors or controls. The job is not “twist the wire” — it is isolating power safely, diagnosing, restoring, leaving a note. House, office, new build, plant — different risk and tools.
They do not (or a neighbor trade does): low-voltage (internet, cameras, alarms) is often another crew; installing fire automation in Uzbekistan is a licensed activity (regulation No. 880, 2018, later edits). An energy-market operator license does not make you a house wireman.
A fit: hands, order, height/tight spaces, saying “we do not work today.” A poor fit: rushing, skipping PPE, taking a call after drinking.
Call-out vs new build
One trade, two days. Read which one the ad actually is.
| Mode | The day | Cash |
|---|---|---|
| Call-out / service | A call, diagnosis, a shop, isolation, a note | Lumpy; nights may add a premium |
| New build | A crew, a drawing, a floor, a deadline | Wage or shift; follows the build cycle |
| Industry / energy site | Stricter rules, permits, HSE | Can pay more; a narrow door |
A call-out day — the steps
1) The call: what died, when, who opens. 2) On site: a tester, no guessing. 3) Materials: a cheap fake breaker is the next call-out. 4) Isolate and label. 5) The work and a re-measure. 6) A note: what changed, the warranty.
Summer roofs, winter wet basements, dusty panels. Water and a pause — “heroics” end in a burn.
Specialties — do not mix them
| Track | Work | Entry |
|---|---|---|
| Domestic install | Flat, house, small office | A master + tools; OLX/Telegram ads |
| Low voltage | Internet, cameras, intercom | Different kit and client; sometimes nearer IT |
| Alarms / fire automation | Design, install, commission | A legal-entity license (No. 880) — not “I personally got a license” |
| Industrial | Plant, motors, power panels | Grade, HSE, a medical check |
Safety — this page will not protect you
Tools — what you actually need
A starter kit can cost several million UZS; check a shop for today’s price. A fake tester is a life risk.
- A tester plus a multimeter (both, not one)
- Insulated pliers, cutters, basic keys
- A torch, labels, tape
- Later: hammer drill, wall chaser — rental is fine
Vocational school, college, a master
In Uzbekistan a vocational school is open after grade 9 (often two years); after grade 11, a college or tekhnikum — electrical tracks vary by region. That is education, not a license. Theory: current, voltage, earthing, protection devices.
A master: start as a helper. Do not advertise yourself as a master on OLX. In 3–6 months pace and risk show; “master” takes years.
Industrial sites may ask a grade, a medical check, an HSE briefing — ask the employer, do not guess.
Which paper is for what
Do not mix three layers. 1) An education diploma/certificate — what you studied. 2) The employer’s permit and HSE — working on that site. 3) An activity license — usually a legal entity (for example fire-automation install; energy-market types — No. 91, 2025).
There is no simple “I got a license” button for a private flat repair. Client insurance and inspector demands depend on the place. This page does not file an application.
Who does not trust work without a tester
A fit: you like sequence, can work at height (or refuse), and will not lie about a diagnosis. Drawing is not required.
A poor fit: “fast money, no study”; working live while hiding fear; telling the client “everything is fine.”
Dangerous habits
- “I already know” without a tester
- Mixing neutral and phase, skipping earth
- Fake breakers and thin cable
- No written note — then a dispute
- Treating the 7M construction mean as your wage
Pay: context, not a rate
There is no official profession median. The construction average (~7.02M, H1 2026) mixes installers, drivers, and office staff. Solo call-outs are day-rate or piece-rate and seasonal (new housing, renovations). Tashkent’s ~12.01M average wage is above the country — still not an electrician row.
Industry, nights, and holidays can add a premium. Compare prices with local trades and 5–10 ads, not an internet average. A hidden markup on materials belongs in the contract.
Where the work is
Construction, housing stock, malls, service crews. Ads: hh.uz, OLX, Telegram trade groups, a contractor you know. Language: Uzbek/Russian; drawings sometimes use English labels.
Solo: a deposit, warranty length, what is included. “We’ll agree” becomes a fight. Region: more call-outs in the capital; in the regions distance and fuel enter the price.
Abroad — a different code
EU/Gulf sites use another standard (IEC vs local practice), another permit, another language. Relocation is a work permit — not a visa guide here. A local paper does not travel automatically. Start with safety language and technical English/Russian.
AI draws a diagram — not voltage
A chatbot will give a one-line diagram and a “why it tripped” list. It does not read a meter. A wrong drawing is a fire. Read it to learn; do not trust it to install. The scarce skill is diagnosis and stopping.
Demand and myths
Housing and repair are not disappearing. Risks: burns, falls, illegal taps, work without a contract. Myths: “master with no study”; “AI gives a safe schematic”; “7M is my rate.”
What people ask beside a master
Can I wire my own house?
Dangerous, and an insurance/code question. At least a experienced master’s supervision. This page does not grant permission.
Is college required?
Domestic work sometimes starts with a master only. Industry and large contractors may ask for school or a grade. Check the ad.
How much for tools?
A starter kit can be several million UZS; good tools last. Today’s price is in a shop — not a list here.
Does an energy license make me a master?
No. No. 91 (2025) is about market/operator types. House wiring is another layer.
Should AI draw the schematic?
Only to study. Installation needs a measurement, the code, and a tradesperson.
What is the official salary?
There is none. Construction ~7.02M (2026) is context. Compare 5–10 ads and local trades.
Is low-voltage a separate job?
Often yes: different cable, client, sometimes a license (alarms). Do not advertise “I do everything.”
What do I do in month one?
Be a helper: pass tools, do not open the panel yourself. Theory at night; live circuits by day with a master.
Figures draw on 2026 sources: Uzbekistan National Statistics Committee (official sector averages, Q1/H1 2026), Flexa and hh.uz vacancy medians, and public IT Park / product-team guides. Not a guarantee — contract type, city, tax, and level change the range. Compare live vacancies yourself.
